• Book a meal at Fjöruborðið, the village’s best-known seafood restaurant and a destination for Icelandic langoustine.
• Use the Stokkseyri swimming pool for an outdoor swim, slide, wading pool, and hot tubs, the kind of everyday Icelandic experience that is easy to miss on a rushed itinerary.
• Reserve a seasonal paddle with Kayakferðir Stokkseyri when conditions and operating dates allow.
• Look for Þuríðarbúð, the small reconstructed fisherman’s hut, and the cultural spaces in the village’s former fish-processing building.

Restaurant, pool, museum, and kayak hours can be seasonal, so check directly before setting out.

Make a coastal half-day of it

Continue west to neighboring Eyrarbakki for its historic houses and shoreline, or drive to Knarrarósviti Lighthouse east of Stokkseyri. Finish in Selfoss for groceries or a choice of casual food before returning home. This is a good plan for an arrival day, a weather-flex day, or the slower day every road trip needs.

A useful position for self-drive travel

Stokkseyri belongs to the wider Árborg area with Selfoss and Eyrarbakki. That keeps everyday services close while placing the house within reach of the Golden Circle and South Coast routes. A rental car is strongly recommended; public transportation is limited outside Iceland’s larger towns.

Why one base can improve the trip
