Everything guests need for a comfortable stay at The Walden House, including back-door access, parking, house rules, trash, and checkout.
Welcome to The Walden House, our Waldo home built for families and groups who want to stay together without giving up a real kitchen, comfortable beds, or enough room to exhale. These notes cover the practical details that make the house easier to enjoy.
If something does not seem right, please message us right away through your booking platform. Most problems are much easier to solve while you are still here, and we genuinely want the opportunity to help.
Early check-in and late checkout are available only when arranged in advance, approved, and purchased as an upsell. Your access code follows the confirmed reservation times.
The guest entrance is the back door beside the parking area. Your unique access code is included in your check-in message and works only during your reservation.
Enter your access code, wait until the lock has completely finished unlocking, and then open the door. Please do not pull or push the door while the lock is moving.
If the lock seems stuck, close the door completely, enter the code again, and give it time to finish. If the code does not work after your confirmed check-in time, message us through your booking platform.
Guest parking is behind the house, close to the back-door entrance. Please do not park on 75th Street. The driveway can accommodate a maximum of three vehicles.
The driveway approach is narrower than a modern suburban driveway. Confident drivers generally do fine, but very large vehicles may require more care. Please do not block neighboring driveways, sidewalks, or access points.
The home has central heating and air conditioning. The upstairs suite can run warmer than the main floor, especially during hot Kansas City weather.
If the upstairs is uncomfortable, message us. A window air conditioner can be installed when needed. Please keep exterior doors and windows closed while the central system is running.
The kitchen is fully equipped for ordinary meals and group stays. Please scrape food into the trash before rinsing dishes.
Do not put food scraps, coffee grounds, grease, or oil down the kitchen drains. Start the dishwasher before checkout.
A washer and dryer are available for guest use. At checkout, please leave used towels together in the bathrooms or laundry area. There is no need to strip the beds or begin a towel load.
Please do not strip the beds. Leave the bedding in place so our cleaners can check and sort everything efficiently.
Please bag household trash and place it in the outdoor trash bins. Trash collection is Thursday.
We know accidents happen, and ordinary wear and tear is part of hosting. Additional charges apply only when a house rule is significantly violated or extra cleaning, repairs, or remediation are required. Examples include unauthorized parties or guests, pets, smoking, equipment tampering, lock damage, or cleaning beyond a normal turnover. The applicable amounts are included in the rental agreement.
The Walden House is for registered overnight guests only. No parties, events, gatherings, or unregistered visitors are permitted.
Quiet hours are 10:00 PM–8:00 AM. Please keep voices, music, and outdoor activity low enough that our neighbors can enjoy their homes too.
No pets are permitted at The Walden House, including visiting pets.
Smoking, vaping, and candles are not permitted anywhere inside the home.
Exterior security cameras are located at the front and back entry points. They record motion outdoors only. There are no cameras inside the home.
Please do not disable, cover, unplug, or otherwise tamper with the security cameras or other house equipment.
Kansas City weather can change quickly. Please use extra care on the driveway, steps, and walkways during snow or freezing conditions, and use the handrails. If an area needs attention, message us so we can arrange help.
