Give everyone a real bed, make breakfast before the road, dry wet gear, and come back to the same warm house each evening. Raven House sleeps five across three bedrooms, with two living areas and the practical comforts a multi-day family trip needs.
A 1930s Icelandic home, reimagined for modern stays.
The original house was built in Reykjavík in 1933 and later relocated to Stokkseyri. Today it blends that history with a calm Nordic interior, abundant natural light and the comforts you actually want after a day outside.
Upstairs, the main living level is bright and social. Downstairs, a second living area gives families room to spread out. The home includes underfloor geothermal heating, Wi‑Fi, a smart TV, a fully equipped kitchen and in-home laundry.

Public transportation is limited outside Iceland's larger towns, so Skálavík is best suited to self-drive travelers.
The village is quiet.
This is not a nightlife destination. The appeal is the coast, the slower pace and easy access to South Iceland.
The historic church and cemetery are across the road.
They are part of the village setting and are visible from the property. We disclose this clearly so guests can decide if the location is right for them.
Icelandic weather is part of the experience.
Winter weather in Iceland can change quickly. The cancellation policy shown at checkout continues to apply when travel is disrupted by weather, so we strongly recommend travel insurance that covers road closures, flight changes, and other trip interruptions.

Visit South Iceland describes Stokkseyri as a coastal village known for its seashore, ocean waves, birdlife, culture, outdoor pool and kayak experiences. The wider Árborg area links Stokkseyri with Selfoss and Eyrarbakki, giving guests access to restaurants, cafés, museums, swimming pools and services without giving up the quieter coastal setting.

How many people does the house sleep?
Up to five guests across three bedrooms: one queen room, one twin room with two beds, and one smaller single/super-twin room.
Is Stokkseyri a good base for the Golden Circle?
Yes for self-drive travelers who prefer returning to one home each night. The broader Golden Circle area includes Þingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss and Kerið, and the house is positioned south of Selfoss for easy access to the region.
Do I need a rental car?
Yes. A car is strongly recommended because public transportation is limited outside Iceland's larger towns.
Is the house heated?
Yes. The home uses underfloor geothermal heating, a very Icelandic comfort after cold or wet days outside.
Is the house suitable for children?
It can work very well for families. The home includes a twin bedroom, travel crib, children's books and toys, plus nearby village amenities and outdoor space.
